Greetings from Ireland!

Before anybody starts to think that I am completely pathetic, here's the top ten reasons why I'm blogging right now instead of doing something a little more vacation like:

10. I haven't adjusted to the time change very well, so even though it's just a few minutes after 10:00 p.m. here in Dublin, I'm wide awake.
9. We are staying in a dorm at the University where Phil is presenting at a conference, so we have our own rooms and my tapping on the keyboard isn't disturbing anybody.
8. There is no television is this room, or radio, or anything else besides a lamp that plugs in and I'm feeling a little technology deprived.
7. It doesn't get dark in Ireland this time of year until around 11:00 p.m. and there's something wrong when a grown-up goes to bed before the sun. (I'm suddenly understanding why Noah refuses to go to sleep when I put him in bed at 7:30 in the summer time)
6. Everybody else appears to have adjusted to the time change better than I and they have gone to bed. I have nobody to talk to but my blog.
5. Somebody needs to stay up and greet the college kids that are sharing our dorm when they come stumbling in around 3:00 a.m. (According to Phil, they sang for us last night and I slept through it. I'm not going to make that mistake again.)
4. Norm and Linda (the couple who is here with us from BYU) brought a computer with them and they said that I could use it tonight. At first I was just going to send the boys an email, but with this machine right in front of me, how can I not get on the blog???!? (Linda blogs too, so she totally gets it.)
3. I don't want the three of you who actually read this to go through withdrawals while I'm away. See? It's all about you guys.
2. I'm almost finished with the book that I brought to read on the plane and I still have 6 days to go before I'm home. (It's all about the time change - I have been reading in the middle of the night each night since I've been here.)

and the number one reason that I'm blogging instead of doing real vacation things . . .

1. If I can manage to waste enough time on the blog, I will be able to stay awake long enough to be the first to wish me a "happy birthday!!!"

Happy Birthday, Ju! I have a post dedicated just to you for tomorrow, but it's no big deal. I have no idea what kind of time you're on right now, so maybe your bday is almost over? Even before it began? Weird.

Okay, boys are great... and cute... and helpful. We miss you, and not just because we have two extra kids while you're gone. ;) Have a smashing birthday and we'll talk soon!

I hope you are enjoying your trip. It brings fond memories of when I went to Ireland and England -- almost 20 years ago now. I went with my sister Shirley and husband Bob and rode in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin with their Banjo group (they gave me a tambourine to shake, since I can't play banjo, and I too celebrated my birthday while I was there. (Very special birthday !!) Hope you have a
GREAT ONE !!

I'll be excited to hear about your trip when you get back.

Be sure to kiss the "Blarney Stone" if you get a chance !!
