Random Pet Peeve

One of the reasons that Phil hates Las Vegas is the inescapable cigarette smoke. I agree with him 100%. It's amazing how we can smell smoke from a single cigarette lit up 50 yards away while sitting by the side of the pool. As much as I hate it, that's not the pet peeve that this post is about. I kind of figure that Vegas belongs more to smokers than to me, so when in Vegas we just deal with it. Generally I get frustrated when I have to walk through smoke to get into a restaurant or a store and I wish that people would take their butts elsewhere, but if I'm going to go to a place like Las Vegas I get that if I don't like it, I'm the one who needs to go elsewhere. However, regardless of where I am there's one thing that I just don't get. If somebody out there can explain it to me, please do. Why do so many smokers think that it's perfectly acceptable to toss their burned out butts onto the sidewalk or out the car window onto the street. I rarely, if ever, see somebody unapologetically toss a gum wrapper or popsicle stick onto the ground, yet I'm constantly witnessing cigarette butts flying freely all around me. What gives??!?
