Meet my new best friends.

Warning: Extremely corny/lame/cheesy post ahead. Eye rolls are almost certain. Proceed at your own risk.

I have some new friends that I want to introduce. Actually, the first three are old friends with whom I am becoming reacquainted. At one point in my life they were good to me, but like a lot of relationships that aren't nurtured, I kind of forgot how great they were and over time I found other friends to hang out with. When I quit my job, those other friends came roaring in and they took me places that I really didn't want to go. They were a bad influence and I have decided to distance myself from them. So say hello to the replacement team:

LESLIE SANSONE!

She's a bundle of energy that's actually kind of annoying, but she helped me once before so I invited her back. She encourages me , she doesn't laugh when I look ridiculous trying to keep up with her, and she never gets cranky with me. and

The POINTS SYSTEM

Weight Watchers is a great way to go if you want to drop a few pounds. I know the system well enough that I'm not going to be going to meetings this time around. I am going to be counting my points though and tracking my progress. It takes some of the guess work out of healthy eating and it helps me to avoid all of the little snacking/picking/late night eating that gets me into trouble. At the end of the day I know exactly how much I've eaten so I can't fool myself into thinking that I'm not overeating, when clearly I am.

and

LOW CAL/HIGH FIBER FOOD

For me it's all about keeping my tummy feeling full. So, no empty calories on my shopping list. I would rather eat larger quantities of healthier food (even if it's not always the most interesting) than small quantities of things that might taste really good. Phil and I have a fundamental difference of opinion on this one. He likes good food, so he's just opting for more fruits and veggies along with portion control. So, while I'm eating my oatmeal, homemade refried beans, Smart Ones, fat-free hot dogs on high fiber bread, and cardboard tortillas (as Phil calls them), he'll be eating three bites of roast beef, half of a scrambled egg, two potato chips, and maybe the crumbs from Adam and Noah's cookies. We'll see who gets crankier because of hunger pangs and I'll definitely report back.

and finally, meet the only newbie to the group

WII Fit

Phil put this beauty under the tree for Christmas. It sat around the house during the holidays just waiting to make it's debut yesterday. We are still getting acquainted, but so far I am completely infatuated. Even though it told me that I am overweight (no news flash there) it softened the blow by also telling me that my WII Fit age is 33. That was a bit of a surprise since in reality I am quickly approaching 40. I'm guessing that my little WII Fit has mastered the art of telling the hard, ugly truth (weight) in conjunction with a little white lie (age) just to make me feel better, but I'll take it.

So there you have it. I've been a Stay-at-Home mom for just about seven months. I'm not sure exactly how much weight I've gained during that time since I stopped getting on the scale awhile before I quit my job, but I know that it's significant. I also know that since I've been home, I am much more easily frustrated with my boys, thus the increased yelling. So even though I tell people that my transition has gone pretty well, I'm realizing that isn't really the case. Now that I've had my six months (+) of getting used to being home, it's time to start doing a better job of it. Noah has asked me at least a half dozen times today if I'm mad. He's not asking me that because I'm yelling at him (because I haven't been) but because he's so used to my angry state that I think he's a little confused. If it weren't so sad, it would be funny.

Good for you !! I'm trying hard to convince myself I have to do something, but I still haven't quit accepted the argument.

I'm going to check in with you Amy! You can do it! You too Myrn. Jump on board. I'm already down 2 pounds. I know, I know. It's all water weight this soon in the game, but two pounds are two pounds. I'll take it.

New best friends huh?

I'm sensing that Sue's head is about to explode.....

As for me, I'm all about eating the good tasting food - and hordes of it.

Good luck, Chica!
