MIA

I know this isn't something that I need to point out, but I thought I should at least acknowledge that I have been Missing in Action for the past week. I have a good excuse - Phil's 40th birthday was on Sunday and we threw him a big surprise party on Saturday night. This past week I was occupied with party planning and figuring out creative ways to deceive my husband. I'm happy to announce that the party was a success, thanks to some amazing friends. There's no way I would have even attempted to pull it off on my own. It was great to see all the people who came to share the evening with us, and Phil managed to forget for awhile just how much he was dreading this particular anniversary of his birth. He is a little concerned at the ease with which I told so many lies, and that I was so good at it. I'm now going to spend the next year or two or ten working to regain his trust.

Here's a copy of the invitation, with a few details edited to protect the innocent.
Forty years really hasn't changed him all that much.
This week I am going to be occupied with all of those nasty chores that were ignored for the past few weeks, so party pictures and other mundane details of our life are going to have to wait a few more days. I just don't want anybody to think that Phil snapped and has me hidden in a closet somewhere as retribution for the surprise party.

The party was a lot of fun. Thanks so much for inviting us. The food was amazing. I might have to borrow some of those recipes soon.

I dare you to post some of the pictures from that wall, particularly the pegged pants.

Awesome! Sounds like it was a great time! I just started following your post - we're adopting two from Haiti. It's fabulous for me to read about Noah and his fun in Sunbeams, etc.... Can't wait until ours get to try to sit still through that!!
