Fun with Phil and Noah (mostly Phil :-)

On Thursday night I had a few things going on so dinner was put together in a hurry. I pulled out some stuff to make nachos for the boys and sent Noah upstairs to ask his dad if he wanted nachos for dinner or if he would prefer something else. This is what I heard once Noah made it to the top of the stairs:

Noah: Hey dad, mom said to ask if you want some nachos.
Dad: Ummm . . . I don't think so. I'm going to have some roast beef instead.
Noah: Okay.

As Noah is starting back down the stairs this happens:

Noah: Mooommmm . . . dad said that he wants some nachos for dinner.
Phil: No. I said that I don't want nachos for dinner.
Noah: What?
Phil: I don't want nachos for dinner. Tell mom that I'm going to have some leftover roast beef instead.
Noah: Okay dad.

Noah: Moooommmm? Dad wants some nachos.
Me: (giggling in the kitchen because I can hear all of this but I'm curious to see how it's going to play out)
Phil: (after he gets up from the computer and walks to the top of the stairs, apparently thinking that eye contact with Noah will make a difference) Noah! I said that I DON'T want nachos for dinner. No nachos. I DO NOT want nachos for dinner, okay?
Noah: Okay.
Phil: Tell mom that I DON'T want nachos.
Noah: Okay.
Noah: Mooommmmmmm?
Me: Yeah Noah?
Noah: Dad wants some nachos.
Me: laughing out loud
Phil: Aaaaarrrrgggghhhhhh! Julie??
Me: Yeah?
Phil: I don't want any nachos. I'm going to have some of the roast instead.
Me: Well then why did you tell Noah that you want nachos?
Phil: I DIDN'T!! I told him . . . . (he trails off as I go to get the roast beef).

Good times.

Hahahaha. Oh my gosh Julie... this had me laughing out loud. I pictured the whole thing happening and could see Phil and Noah acting this out. That was glorious. Thank you for that. The conversations that you post always bring me so much happiness. As does your entire blog. I love it. I love you. I love your whole family.

Love you too, Melissa! I know your boss can be a jerk, so I'm glad that we can provide some comic relief to your stressful days.

Hey, shredded roast beef sounds really good on nachos.

So, was it that Noah wanted nachos and was worried that if Phil didn't he wouldn't get any?

I love that you play with your psychiatrist's mind. Keep it up.

My favorite part is that you just stood there listening to it all. I think that's probably what I would have done.

Also, tell Phil that after his many references to Oprah yesterday, he's not going to get away from that nickname anytime soon.
